Real Kana app for iPhone and iPad

This app is very useful and a must have app for Japanese learning. If you want to acquire fast reading on Japanese you need do use an app like that. IMHO the only thing they could improve this app would be putting the sounds for each Kana. It would be perfect!

This app is fantastic! Its perfect for helping me learn and memorize kana during my commute. I love that I can select different sets of characters to work on, so I can target the ones I have trouble remembering.

Minimalist app thats really useful if you are just starting out with Japanese. Helped me to memorize hiragana. Three modes so you can also study quickly w/o having to type to advance.

Where are the directions? All I see are 3 hiragana letters that I can swipe around.

I just started learning Japanese this year and it was my brother who showed me the PC version of Real Kana. I used it multiple times a week, using it maybe for 15 minutes a day. I knew every character faster than I ever thought I could, took maybe a week. I always hated flashcards so this was the perfect alternative. When I found this to be on the Iphone, I could not wait, I still have Katakana to learn :D. Pros: User Friendly Interface Simple yet effective Great Price Good for the on the go person Cons: None that I have found, will update if i do though

This app does exactly what it promises and does it VERY well. I have never once had it crash or freeze up. It includes exhaustive lists of Hiragana and Katakana and is a steal for how cheap it is. I have zero complaints, but rather a few kind suggestions for the developers of this application and the free website associated with it. They are as follows: 1. Allow selection of individual characters for study instead of just a row. This would allow users to cherry pick specific kana they are having trouble with so they can be drilled in a concentrated manner. 2. Add some options for color changes. I will sometimes use this before bed in a dark room and the white background is too much of a contrast. The same goes for the website. I suggest making an option for a black or dark grey background so its easier on the eyes. Thanks for making a portable version of this great website!!
